The Alien and the Christian

September 10, 2009

Please, don't read this if you have any aspect of not being open minded... also, you should not read this if you are "semi" or "extremely" religious

You know, I wonder what would happen if an Alien being ever landed in someone’s back yard, on this planet we call earth. What if the Human, the person who was the owner of that back yard happened to be a Christian or some other religious zealot.

(Lets have some fun with this)

And this person then began to preach and talk to the Alien about; Jesus and about God and about Salvation and about Damnation and about the book of Revelations… ect… And this person preaches all this stuff to our Alien friend, because this Christian feels he has been given a missionary of some sort, He is a missionary to the stars!

(When I say “stars”, I am talking about the burning balls of fire that can be seen in the night sky.. I am not talking about those dim-bulbs that live in Beverly hills, and star in movies about buddy cops OR talking penguins)

I don’t know how the Alien would react, but I would hope the he would give the idea its due. That he would sit in contemplation for a moment and actually obtain from this idea.

(because the approach of a true skeptic, is NOT to try to disbelieve something… BUT to try to actually believe something, to see if we can find any evidence to support this idea. If evidence is found, then we might obtain at least a little belief in that idea.. Carl Sagan once said “Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence", and if you are an Alien being who has never heard of God before and you are hearing about him for the first time. Surely God is quite an extraordinary clam…)

So, I would like to say the Alien would respond by saying “Wow! This God sounds incredible.. Why don’t you take me to him? I think I would like to met this being”. Then the Christian would tell the Alien that "You cannot met god until you die and go to heaven, and you can only do that if you accept Jesus Christ into your soul". Then the Alien would say “Ok, I guess that sound reasonable.. You seem like an intelligent member of a fairly intelligent species, so I am assuming you have some evidence for this? I would like to see it, I would like to see the evidence for this being”.
Then the Christian would produce the Bible and say “This is all the evidence we need right here, this is a historical document of all the times God has interacted with our species”. Then the Alien would say “Wait a minute?!! You just said you had to be dead to see god. But now you are telling me, he HAS interacted with your species in the past?”. The Christian guy would say “Well, yes. He has interacted with us in the past, but he does not do it any more. We have this book that tells us about all the times he interacted with us in the past”.

(Now the Aliens might start laughing in his head, or smell something is Fishy even if he had never smelled earth’s fish before… But I think he would take the book and try to read it with an open mind. Even after seeing all its scientific inaccuracies, historical inaccuracies, conflicting genealogies, conflicting birth places of specific individuals, conflicting moral guide lines… Conflicting this, Conflicting that, Everything is conflicting!.. I think the Alien would safely disregard the Bible as evidence for a Gods existence, because he also took the time to read the Bible’s history. How it was edited together, How some was left out, How some books were changed over time by; kings, popes and angry priests who did not like one idea or the other… )

The Alien would safely disregard the Bible as clear evidence to the existence of God and go back to our Christian friend, and say “Im sorry, but this book just is not sufficient enough evidence. In fact, I don’t think its evidence at all.. I mean surly if you believe in this all powerful being that controls your destiny, then you simply must have to have more evidence than just this book. What else do you have?”

(The Christian then might take him to the book store and let him read the “Purpose Driven Life” or something, but by now our Alien has pretty much made up his mind that failing some sort of amazing revolution, he can completely discount this idea of Christianity… if he landed in the Middle East he could discount Islam with much of the same logic, if he landed in India he could discount Hinduism with much of the same logic, if he landed is cretin parts of China he could disregard Buddhism with much of the same logic… And I would hope that in that situation, our Alien friend would not think of us as “stupid”….. But just incredibly, incredibly gullible)

God does exist and the bible is not the only evidence that he does. You and I are evidence as well as everything around us. And he still communicates with man, but it's only through a relationship with him that you can ever know this. If you want to test it out, simply ask his Son Jesus(who's as real as the daylight his father invented) to come into your heart and be your Savior. Faith is about believing first in what you don't see and then seeing the results as the fruit of your faith. Know that God loves you and I love you too! You'll remain in my prayers. Have a wonderful evening! :)

I can honestly say I am extremely open-minded, with that said I do still believe there is a God. No I have not seen him, no he has never spoken to me, no I have not read the whole entire Bible, no I do not attend any church, I do not call myself a christian or any other religious definition/being & sometimes I do ask questions, any intelligent human being asks questions & seeks to know the answers.

I also believe in mother nature, evolution, science....etc. I do not believe ppl should force religion on each other, I think that anyone who "worships" an almighty, should do it on a personal level. I like what I read here because it makes me think....Are we incredibly gullible? Is there eternal life after death/eternal damnation? We need to ask ourselves those questions, but there is one thing I'm sure of & that is, believing in a creator is not hurting me.

On the other hand, Government, Police, Kings, Generals, Laws and Tradition do try to control us with fear & it does hurt, I just try to live my life by what's best for my individual situation, because as one person, I cannot change the things I do not like, wish I could.

Redfox u always seem 2 amaze me ! U know I've done alot of studin' n n my yrs all to realize that what I needed was inside me all along. The bible, yes most certain things have been added, or changed to suit someones likeing. So if I could read his EXACT words, I would quit possibily follow then, but I can't so I feel like y know, Everyone knows when they have done wrong. And also I don't believe that not one , not one religion has it right. As long as u follow what's n ur heart. & this coming from someone who practice's wicca. U r a great person.

I really liked reading this. I think that the Bible, along with the Koran and other religious writings, are wonderful and well-crafted stories (Uh, oh Lit major slip) and ultimately that is what they are. Yet, people often adhere to them so strongly without thinking of what the works are saying and live hypocritcally to what is written despite the fact that they "believe" in it. If people actually practiced what they preached, then there might be more peace in the world. And if what they think is true keeps them at peace, then let them believe, but trying to push their own religion on others is what causes trouble.

Because, most people are religious and their community and peers believe in the same thing and for "every atheist there are two religious people." And atheists are wrong but if you say Christians are wrong, they always say, "It's in the Bible." I apologize for using up three comments but I wanted to get what I had to say out about the topic of religion. But, I really like your story though.
