October 20, 2009: I met up with a few great loyals, Delinda and Katrina, and we had lunch and went to the Wax museum. It was fun to have pictures taken with the wax statue of Criss. That night we went to the show. Delinda and I got to sit in the front row. The show is different once again from October 2008 and April 2009 when I saw it.
Gone are: the poppy fields, Criss chasing the bunny head around the stage, Criss walking through the screen and his clothes changing colors when he is chasing Kayala, Criss carrying Kayala through the rain and not getting wet, the straight jacket escape, Criss doesn't take his top off, the ending where Criss levitates with the blue angel wings..................all gone..............I'm glad I got to see 3 different versions. My favoritate was probably April 2009. This version now reminded me a little of the preview one in October when things in the show seemed to be going through a transition stage.
The show is still amazing and Criss does the bracelet trick at the beginning. At the beginning the clowns come out and Maestro was looking for a volunteer and picked me. He stood on one side of me and another clown on the other side. Maestro very gently shoved a scarf down my blouse and then he stood on one side and grabbed one end of the scarf and the other clown grabbed the other end and they pulled the scarft out and attached to it was a "bra"! It was fun.
They also added a part where they throw a frisbee to an audience member who gets to come down on stage and observe another of Criss's illusions.
Criss sat down in the middle of the show on the stage and announced that he was divorced. He said it wasn't any of Joanne's fault and maybe a little bit his fault but they wanted different things and went their separate ways and sometimes this happens.
After the show, we went to Liquidity since we had been at the 7 PM show. Do not order bottle service. It is the worst service and biggest waste of time and money I have ever spent in Vegas.
Then we went back to the theater around 11:30 AM to wait for Criss. At 1:00 AM he came out and went down a hallway and disappeared (no pun intended). He never even stopped to say Hello or take pictures with us even though there were only 4 of his waiting. We ran down the hallway he ducked into but he was gone.
The next day we all met up again since the other Loyals were leaving and I was there until Saturday. We sat outside by where he parks his cars and he came out and got into the SUV. It was so quick we didn't even have time to yell to him or anything! So we sat outside since it was such a nice day and talked to a really nice security guard.
She said Criss is committed to 3 more years of Mindfreak!!!!!
Then around 12:15 PM, Criss pulls back in. He drove himself and it took him 3 times to back into his parking space! (so cute) Then he got out (see pics above) and was looking at his phone as he was walking. We yelled "Criss, Criss" and he looked over and said "Hi Ladies, Thanks" and gave us his signature peace sign. Then as he opened the door to go into the Luxor, he looked over again and said "Thanks" again! It was so sweet of him to take the time out of his personal busy day to acknowledge us. Even though I was bummin that he ditched us the night before, this kinda made up for it. I still don't have my pic with Criss, but at least I got a "shout out" and a smile! It was a great trip and I'm glad I met the Loyals that I did. They are true friends now and not just because of Criss but in addition to it.
April 24, 2009: I got to be a little part of the show when a clown escorted me to my seat. Criss's energy level and personality are 1000% and he was 5 seats away from me when he came down the aisle. He smiled at me when he was talking (wishful thinking?) Bravisimo!
It starts when you get to the theater and see all the people lined up buying tickets or waiting to get in. You can feel the moment anticipation leads to excitement. As you walk down the hallway to the theater you come to the merchandise store and want to buy everything in it! The rabbits are so cute and piled so high.
As you enter the theater the bar area is like a movie theater, course at $9.00 a drink it's a little pricey. We usually have a drink or two before we enter the theater.
The ushers are dressed in all black and wear top hots and escort you to your seat. As I was walking down the aisle, I felt this hand on my shoulder. When I turned around it was one of the clowns escorting me to my seat. I said this is my seat and he said ok ok ok and hopped away. My husband told me later that he was actually waving the fake metal detector wand up and down my back as I walked to my seat! My little part of the show. Can I put that on my Resume?
As you take your seat the clowns start a mini-vaudville act which is truly funny. And then Criss enters. I'm not going into a lot of detail. It would ruin it for those who haven't seen the show yet. But the energy in the room goes up off the charts! Criss yells to the crowd "are you ready"? and then the show begins! Criss dedicates the show to his father and thanks everyone for coming to see the show.
I was in the Center Section this time, Row K, Section 102 Seat 16/17. When Criss walks up the aisle to perform the first part of the audience participation, he stopped at Row J and was talking to our row. He looked at me and smiled as he talked and this may be wishful thinking on my part -- maybe not!
You can't fully realize how energetic and charasmatic he is until you see him in person. And pictures don't do him justice either, as great as they are! When he smiles, he lights up the whole theater.
I've seen many performers in Las Vegas over my 10 years visting and it is rare for performers in Vegas to intermingle with their fans on the level that Criss does. Most of them are untouchable and unreachable before or after their shows and if they are (like when I saw Carlos Mancia) they charge a price for that handshake and souvenir photo. All the things that Criss gives of himself to his fans for free.
The show was 90% sold out when I was there and people were clapping and applauding and even gave the cast a standing ovation. Don't believe what you read from the critics. See the show yourself and come away with the same impression I did -- It was truly the MOMENT ANTICIPATION MEETS EXCITEMENT!
