AMENDMENT 2... VOTE NO FLORIDA!
October 27, 2008Amendment 2 would legally define marriage between a man and a woman and be put into the Florida State Constitution.
I, for one, DO NOT AGREE!
I believe that you should have the freedom, the right, to marry whoever you want, regardless of sex. You don't choose who you fall in love with, whether it be a man or a woman. You also don't choose who you are attracted to; it's just a part of who you are.
Bishop Harry Jackson, pastor of Hope Christian Church said, "There is national agenda by the homosexual lobby to break down and redefine the family." That is complete garbage. A family is defined as parents and their children. It does not specify the gender. A parent is defined as a person in relation to his or her offspring; a mother OR a father.
John Stemberger, president of the Florida Family Policy Council, said that children need a mother and a father in order to grow up better rounded and successful. So not only is he saying that a child raised by homosexual parents will not be raised as well as a child raised by heterosexual parents, but he is also saying that a single parent can not raise a child right because there are not 2 parents of the opposite gender present... If you want get technical.
Children raised by a single parent usually have someone of the opposite gender from their parent to be either a mother- like or father- like figure to them. Usually an aunt, uncle, older sibling, grandparent, or a close family friend. Same goes for children with same- sex parents. Just because there are not 2 parents of the opposite gender raising a child, automatically mean the child will be less rounded and less successful.
Would you rather a child grow up with unstable, heterosexual parents rather than with stable, homosexual parents just because the parents are of the opposite gender from each other? If you do, I pity your ignorance and stupidity.
I believe that you love who you love and should not be denied the right marry to the person you care about.
