SHHHH MINDFREAK! W.I.P
September 7, 2008A design I'm working on for a MindFreak T-Shirt.
Pt.1
So far I think I've spent approximately 5 or 6 hours on this. Thanks to one of the loyals on the Boards I've developed a bit cleaner style of shading.
Who really knows how much longer it'll take me on this. I won't know exactly what problems to fix until I get a little bit more finished. I might darken up some tones in photoshop as well just to even out the black shading.
Pt. 2
Here's an updated version I worked on a bit today.
So far I've only blackened the darkest tones with a 6B pencil over the B as to cut down on the streak effect.
So far everything seems to be running together smoothly, thanks to the tissue paper technique, as far as my shading is concerned. Made some slight adjustments in some places and colored in the hair a little bit, which is a good ways off; still need to put in some of the highlights and random strands so to add a bit more detail.
I still need to finish doing the hand, the bracelets (which i have yet to sketch out), the hat, and the bandanna so who knows how long it's going to take me to complete all of this. Good thing is I don't have too much to worry about as far as class time for tomorrow and tonight so I might get a good bit done now or then.
Pt.3
So here is part three here. I tried working on it a bit yesterday but school kept me busy for the majority of the day and by the time I got home I was too tired to work on it.
That being said I decided to work on this for a little bit today and I think I might be done for today but I'm not completely sure. Anywho, I shaded the hand and fingers with a HB pencil and colored in some of the dark spots with a touch of B. Wiped with a tissue for a realistic clean touch.
The jewelry so far hasn't been as hard as I thought it was going to be. All i did was shade in circles and lift up some areas with my eraser as to bring out that glossy shine effect to make it look real. I'm more than likely going to go back and shine up the rings on his right hand though, the skull could use some a tad bit more shine.
The only things I have left are to sketch out and shade Criss' numerous bracelets, do some editing on his hat so that it lines up with the top of the page, sketch out and shade the details on his bandanna, draw out the loose hairs near the bottom and add a bit more detail to hair that's already there.
Pt.4
Okay so I finally got around to shading in all the dark areas. I used a 6B to get a dark tone, even though it appears lighter here because my scanner brightens up all my pics. I might go out and get an 8 or 9B so I can make it as black as possible. With all the dark tones with the except of the wrist shaded in it really makes everything else "POP". The bandanna was a little hard to do but nothing to trivial.
Now for the hat; this gave me a bit of trouble.
I've had to darken up the hat and then pull out some lights with my eraser as to give it that shine look. As always I went over it once finally as to touch things up a bit.
So now All I've got left is the bracelets and then an overall process of touching everything up and fixing any mistakes.
