A day with mixed emotions

January 3, 2009

First I want to thank everyone for the special Holdiay wishes. I am sorry that I wasn't able to respond to all of you, but I do hold them all dear to my heart. I have been busy for the past 2 weeks with my son being home. I tried to get in as much time with him as I could.

Well today we had to take him back to the airport. My feelings and emotions are so torn. It was wonderful having him home. He looks great and really is a dfferent person from the one who left here in September.

While he was home, he was hanging out alot with his friends and it just seemed like he didn't fit in with them any more. I think he is really starting to out grow them, thank God!! He is moving ahead with his life and has a real future and his friends are all stuck right where he left them.

So you can see where emotions can be torn. I am happy that he is home but even happier that he is away from his friends and moving on with his life, but sad because I will miss him like crazy,

He will be graduating the Armour division at the end of this month and from there he is going to Fort Irwin, CA. He will be there for about 2 years and then on to Afganistan. I am hoping that our new president pulls us out of there before then.

So my dear Loyal friends, please continute to pray for my son and our soldiers. Have a healthy and Happy New Year. Let's hope 2009 will be better than 2008!!

Oh Lorrie. I can't even imagine what it's like when my oldest son moves out from home. I think the mixed emotions will always be there but there will be one constant one...or should I say two. First, your love for him and second, you being proud that he grew up to be the man you raised him to be. :-)

or finally just coming up to me and LOOKING me in the face asking..."How are you...I missed you Mom"..That is what matters, and your Son takes a piece of that with him when he goes overseas...and he actually is starting to pay the love you have given him, unconditionally "forward" to the people that fill up his life right now !

May your son be safe and it is allright to feel heartbroken..we are Moms...it is part of the job...but the times you have become so much more genuiene when your children show a drive, purpose and self confidence in theirselves.Having two boys with Autism has helped me have happiness with every small feat...whether it be tying their shoes, not stuttering when trying to talk...

Any time you spend with your Son is well deserved and so "wonderful" for a lack of a better word...you have me choked up with your blog...I so wish the next President can bring all of our Good Men home and make sure they are always honored for keeping us at peace everyday...I do not have anyone in the Military...but we are close to Nellis Air Force Base..and I run into a lot of the Soldiers around here...My kids...they Salute them and I have always taught them to respect any man they see in Uniform...
