Ingrediants

1/2 cup Crisco shortening..(butter flavor) 1/2 cup butter or margarine 2 1/2 cups flour (sift it) 1 cup brown sugar(packed) 1/2 cup sugar 2 eggs 1 teaspoon vanilla (use real vanilla not imitation) 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1 12 oz. bag DARK CHOCOALATE chips 1/2 cup chopped marischino cherries(drain these too) (you can add walnuts, pecans, cocanut, other flavors besides vanilla!)

Beat shortening and butter with mixer Add half the flour(fold in) Add sugars add eggs (beat with fork in separate bowl before adding) add vanillla add baking soda

Beat this mixture with a wooden spoon and then add in rest of the flour

Stir in chips and drained marischino cherries

Use 1/4 measuring spoon or cup to determine size. Place at least 4 inches apart on cookie sheet.

Bake at 375 for about 11 - 13 minutes depending on oven.

Cool on wire rack.
